Agreement and product scope
By installing, buying, or using GhostReply, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or run the software. GhostReply is a Mac command-line application that reads local Messages data, asks Groq to generate text, and can send the generated reply through Apple's Messages app without a final click.
GhostReply is meant for low-risk, one-to-one conversations where you have permission to communicate. It is not an emergency service, professional adviser, records system, or guaranteed delivery service. The product may change as macOS, Messages, Groq, and other dependencies change.
Requirements you provide
You need a compatible Mac with Messages set up, an internet connection, a supported terminal environment, and the macOS permissions GhostReply requests. Full Disk Access lets the terminal read the local Messages database. Messages Automation lets it send through Messages. Contacts access can help display names instead of handles.
You also need your own valid Groq API key and must follow Groq's terms and policies. You are responsible for your Groq account, API usage, charges if any, key security, and Data Controls. Do not share a Groq key or a GhostReply license key with anyone who is not authorized to use it.
Trial, purchase, and personal license
The free trial permits up to 10 automatically sent replies for a device. Trial state is checked by GhostReply's backend and may use a machine identifier, local trial records, and server-side reply counts. You may not reset, bypass, manipulate, or create alternate state to repeat the trial.
A purchase grants one person a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use GhostReply. The software is licensed, not sold. Unless GhostReply expressly says otherwise, you may not copy, redistribute, republish, mirror, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, create derivative works, remove or bypass licensing or integrity controls, sublicense, rent, sell, or make the software publicly available.
The price, payment method, taxes, receipt, and other purchase details are the ones shown by LemonSqueezy at checkout. A license key can be subject to activation and reasonable device controls. Do not publish or share it. These terms do not create a refund promise or replace any rights that applicable consumer law gives you.
Your responsibility for automated messages
You choose which person or conversations GhostReply watches, which reply mode it uses, how quickly it responds, and when it runs. You are responsible for having the right and consent to access the local messages and to send to each recipient. You are also responsible for every message sent from your Apple account, including an AI-generated message that you did not review first.
Use automatic sending only where an occasional wrong, awkward, delayed, or missing reply will not cause harm. Keep the Mac available to monitor. Type stop, press Control-C, close the process, or reply manually when you need to take over. Do not rely on keyword filters, holding replies, manual-takeover detection, or other safeguards as a guarantee.
Do not use GhostReply for emergencies, medical or legal advice, financial commitments, contracts, employment decisions, consent, threats, abuse, or other high-stakes communications. Review and send those messages yourself.
Prohibited use
You may not use GhostReply to violate a law, regulation, court order, contract, platform rule, or another person's rights. You may not use it for spam, unwanted bulk messages, fraud, phishing, harassment, stalking, threats, unlawful discrimination, deceptive impersonation, unauthorized surveillance, sexual exploitation, or distributing malware. You may not falsely present an automated message as human-authored where disclosure is required.
You may not use the software or related services to attack, overload, probe, scrape, or gain unauthorized access to GhostReply, Groq, Apple, LemonSqueezy, PostHog, GitHub, or another system. We may limit or end access when we reasonably believe a license, trial, service, or person is being abused.
AI output and service limits
Generated replies can be inaccurate, incomplete, offensive, repetitive, or inconsistent with your intent. A style profile and conversation context can improve relevance but cannot make the model know what you really mean. You must decide whether automatic sending is appropriate for each conversation.
GhostReply does not guarantee reply correctness, safety, availability, timing, or delivery. macOS privacy settings, Apple database changes, Messages account state, sleep settings, network failures, Groq limits, model changes, software bugs, or provider outages can stop or alter behavior. Updates may add, remove, or change features to keep the product working.
Third-party services and privacy
GhostReply depends on Apple Messages, Groq, LemonSqueezy, GitHub, PostHog, and network infrastructure that GhostReply does not control. Your use of each service is subject to that provider's terms, privacy policy, availability, and account rules. A provider may change or end a feature independently of GhostReply.
Review the GhostReply privacy page before use. It explains what stays on your Mac, what goes directly to Groq, and what license, trial, website, and analytics data may be processed elsewhere.
Disclaimers and changes
GhostReply is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not promise that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure against every threat, or suitable for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, GhostReply and its creator are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss caused by use of or inability to use the product.
We may update these terms when the product or its providers change. The updated date at the top shows the current version. Continuing to use GhostReply after an update means you accept the revised terms. For a question about the license or these terms, email support@ghostreply.lol.
Terms questions
A purchase grants one person a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use GhostReply. The software is licensed, not sold, and the checkout offer controls the price and purchase details shown at that time.
You are. You choose the contacts, modes, timing, permissions, and context, and you are responsible for having permission to message each recipient and for every message GhostReply sends from your account.
No. AI output can be inaccurate, inappropriate, or unexpected, and Messages, macOS, Groq, networks, or other services can delay or prevent delivery. Monitor the app and use manual review for anything important.
