For routine candidate coordination

AI iMessage Auto-Reply for Recruiters on Mac

Keep simple scheduling and receipt confirmations moving, while hiring decisions, compensation, and sensitive candidate conversations stay with a person.

Built for one recruiter on one Mac, not an ATS or team workflow.

Reduce scheduling lag without automating judgment

Candidates often text while a recruiter is in an interview, on a call, or moving between meetings. A short acknowledgment can reduce uncertainty until the recruiter can check the calendar or open the candidate record.

GhostReply runs in Terminal on a Mac and watches eligible one-to-one iMessage conversations. It uses the local thread and relevant context to generate a response through Groq, then sends that response in Messages. This can help with ordinary coordination, but it is not a recruiting system and should not make or communicate employment decisions.

Three routine candidate text examples

These are examples, not guaranteed output. Verify that the suggested wording does not imply confirmed availability, status, or a decision that has not been approved.

Incoming: Could we move tomorrow's screen to later?

Possible reply: i can check the afternoon options and send you a confirmed time shortly

Incoming: Just sent the updated resume

Possible reply: got it thank you, ill take a look and follow up directly

Incoming: Is the video link the same for tomorrow?

Possible reply: im checking the invite now and will confirm the link with you

Limit the first session to one candidate

One-person mode is the safest way to test a candidate workflow. Select a contact, choose the reply style and delay, and watch the first trial session. When you send a manual reply after GhostReply has answered, the one-person session stops.

All-contacts mode can answer across incoming one-to-one iMessage chats, which may mix personal and professional contacts. In that mode, a manual message pauses the contact for 30 minutes while other eligible chats continue. Group chats are skipped. The small-business auto-reply guide explains why this is a personal utility rather than a team system.

Requirements and setup for recruiting texts

  1. Use an awake, internet-connected Mac with Messages signed in to the iMessage account you intend to monitor.
  2. Install GhostReply in Terminal and give that terminal app Full Disk Access to read local Messages history.
  3. Grant Messages Automation permission so the terminal can send. Contacts access helps match handles to names.
  4. Provide your own Groq API key, choose one person or all eligible one-to-one chats, and set a style and delay.

GhostReply keeps history access, the learned profile, configuration, and statistics local on your Mac. Selected conversation samples and relevant context go directly from the Mac to Groq for profile and reply generation. Message content does not pass through GhostReply servers. License validation, trial accounting, and analytics data can reach GhostReply services.

The app only sends while the Mac is awake, online, and running GhostReply. Close it to stop. See every step in the iMessage auto-reply setup guide for Mac.

Keep candidate decisions and sensitive data human

Do not let GhostReply screen applicants, evaluate qualifications, promise compensation or benefits, confirm employment terms, decide interview outcomes, reject a candidate, discuss accommodations, or handle work authorization and protected information. Avoid sending resumes, identification, background details, health information, or other sensitive candidate data into an automatic conversation.

Urgent and sensitive checks are heuristic keyword rules. They can miss context and are not HR, legal, privacy, or compliance controls. Follow your employer's communication and recordkeeping policies, get approval for any AI use that requires it, and review the AI iMessage auto-reply safety guide before testing.

Recruiter iMessage auto-reply FAQ

GhostReply can answer eligible incoming one-to-one iMessages while the Mac and app are running. Use it for routine acknowledgment and scheduling, not outreach, screening, employment decisions, or offers.

No. GhostReply is a personal Mac Messages tool. It does not provide ATS sync, a shared inbox, candidate records, approval workflows, team permissions, or compliance features.

It should not. Keep compensation, benefits, work authorization, interview evaluation, hiring decisions, rejections, accommodations, and other consequential candidate communication manual.

You can try 10 automatic replies free. After that, a GhostReply license costs $4.99 once. Your Groq account and API usage are separate and subject to Groq's terms.
